The West Wilson Utility District participated in a voluntary Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCP)study conducted by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation's Division of Water Supply.

Analytical technology now allows testing for lower levels of PPCPs than ever before.  The sample results are in parts per trillion - most drinking water standards are in parts per billion or parts per million.  A part per trillion is less than one drop of water in an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

The study in Tennessee was one of the most comprehensive studies done anywhere in the U.S. for community public water systems.  The study was done to establish a baseline.  Previously, there had been very little PPCP testing done in Tennessee.

The West Wilson Utility District's sample results can be seen here.  All items tested for were Below Detection Limit (BDL).
